Oh, good Lord, I was just getting ready to do some desultory blogging, probably about secret-keeping, because you know how February makes me (Oh, Valentine's Day, look how you are out there!), and I am self-sworn to not get into it blogwise this year, so it feels like I am deceitful.
Anyhow, you also know I hate for my thingy to be on the last month, but -- waiting for the blobbering interface to load -- I saw there is a long piece about Tyler Clementi & Dharun Ravi in The New Yorker that came today. (Feb 6 issue. Cover illustration=brilliant.)
A still-life will have to do for now. It's just that old Claudia Roden recipe -- cannellini, pickles, parsley, olives, thinly-sliced onion, lemon vinaigrette. Mmmm. Bisous.

I need you to say more about this lemon vinaigrette. Assume I am really slow.

for this I just use 2tbsp ReaLemon and 4tbsp olive oil. I usually shake a bunch more lemon over the salad later, but that's because I like everything super-lemony.
